Diving into an Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Turdy Character in a Mission to Reach the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have discovered plenty of interesting creations from small studios. However, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure lets you play a protagonist that is truly a dung striving to make its way to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."
How you interact is simple: just use a one button to leap. Throughout one hundred fifty challenges, you'll face mini-bosses and access a shop to acquire outfits for your poop character.
Execute your movements precisely, as a mistake forces beginning again. Jump on air pockets to propel yourself upward, navigate crumbling ledges, and activate triggers to open secret routes. Earn coins and use them on tougher levels where things ramps up.
In terms of design, the demo features eye-catching environments and an amazing background music. Its minimalist graphics with moving basic polygons evokes memories of fans of beloved games like Earthbound.
Even though difficult to think of previous releases where you play as a dung character, interactive entertainment often included fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can make explosives from character droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as plant food. Naturally, this theme is present heavily in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Despite its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already garnered notable awards, such as winning at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is available now on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to debut on Steam on November 19.
